Academic Paediatric Specialists appointed to the Department of Paediatrics have offices in all of London's hospitals, the Thames Valley Children's Centre and the Child Parent Resource Institute. Department members are also located in the community in numerous offices across southwestern Ontario. These specialists are essential child health care teachers for undergraduate and postgraduate trainees in medicine and other health disciplines.
Paediatric teachers have been leaders in undergraduate course design, curriculum development and evaluation. Academic paediatric specialists are essential teachers within the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Accredited residency training programs in Paediatrics include, Paediatric Critical Care Medicine, Neonatal Perinatal Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology. CH specialists are also teachers in the Departments of Surgery, Clinical Neurosciences, Otolaryngology and Ophthalmology. The residency program has a national reputation as an excellent site for future paediatricians to acquire exceptional skill as consultants with strong emergency resuscitation experience. The program's affiliation with the SWOMEN initiative provides residents with unique child health experiences in a variety of southwestern Ontario communities.
