- she listens carefully to your story
- she tries to understand your goals - what outcome you are seeking
- she gives information about relevant policies, procedures or practices
- she objectively reviews your situation and helps you determine what your options are
- she may seek to initiate problem solving discussions with other parties
- she suggests approaches for managing conflicts
- she may agree to mediate a dispute
- she may agree to be present at a meeting between you and another party
- she promotes fair and equitable process and, if appropriate, recommends changes in policies and procedures.
