  What kind of disputes does the Office of the Ombudsperson Handle?

The Office of the Ombudsperson is available to provide information and advice to students and others about university resources, policies, practices and procedures. Students might visit the office for assistance with a problem or concern related to any aspect of university life. The types of issues dealt with by the office include but are not limited to:

Academic:

  • grading and marking practices
  • scholastic offences (e.g. plagiarism)
  • student records and transcripts
  • progression requirements and course rules
  • problems with Instructors
  • requirements to withdraw from a program
  • academic probation and readmission

Non-academic:

  • registration
  • fees/financial
  • parking
  • fines and refunds
  • student code of conduct
  • residence
  • campus recreation
  • USC related (including clubs & associations)
  • interpersonal difficulties
