Hunt continues for Canada’s Olympic history

While Bob Barney has a keen interest in the athletes representing Canada at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, his academic curiosity is for Olympic athletes from a century ago - the members of Canada’s first Olympic team in 1908. (read the Western News article)

Lecture marks Olympic Studies Centre milestone

In a letter dated March 23, 1989, Jan Van Fleet notified Bert Taylor, Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education, that the Board of Governors on recommendation of the University of Western Ontario Senate had approved the establishment of the Centre for Olympic Studies. Australia's anti-doping authority speaks at Western

November 8, 2007

Australia's leading authority on anti-doping in sport, who 20 years ago traded barbs with John McEnroe while serving as a tennis chair umpire, will deliver two lectures on Monday, November 12 at The University of Western Ontario including one at The International Centre for Olympic Studies. Colleagues World-wide:  It gives the International Centre for Olympic Studies (ICOS) great pleasure to announce its 9th Biennial International Symposium for Olympic Research to be held in Beijing, People’s Republic of China on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, August 5, 6, 7, 2008, immediately before the opening of the Games of the 29th Olympiad in Beijing on August 8th. ICOS symposium heading to Beijing

For only the second time in 18 years, the International Centre for Olympic Studies (ICOS) will hold its biannual symposium at the site of the Olympic Games. A previous symposium was held in Australia in 2000. (Read the Western News story)


Stepen Wenn Gives 15h Annual J. Howard Crocker Lecture

Kevin Wamsley steps down

After six years at the helm of Western's International Centre for Olympic Studies, Kevin Wamsley has left his role as director to concentrate more on his position as Associate Dean (Programs) in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
