This unique collection is designated a national treasure under the Canadian Cultural Property Act. It consists of the personal papers and official records donated to the Centre by James Worrall (1914-2011). The full collection details his lifetime involvement in the Olympic Movement, including but not limited to his role as athlete and flag-bearer (1936 Summer Olympic Games); member of the Amateur Athletic Union of Canada (President from 1951-1953); longtime member of the Canadian Olympic Association (President from 1961-1968); and member of the International Olympic Committee (1967-1989), where he served on the Executive Council from 1974-1979.
The physical assets of the James Worrall Collection are divided between the International Centre for Olympic Studies, and the University Archives of the University of Western Ontario. The Finding Aids for the two parts of the collection are available below (pdf). Please visit the web page of the University Archives for contact and access information.
