Chronic tinnitus is believed to affect between 10-15% of adults or 360,000 Canadians. Tinnitus can be more than ringing-in-the ears. For many, the noises range from whistling, buzzing, humming or hissing. Researchers understand little about the causes of tinnitus, and no cure for tinnitus exists. Phillip Gander, PhD, uses electrocorticography (ECoG) to learn how the brain makes sense of sound, and will lecture on the latest research and thinking on tinnitus at our Siemens Symposium in Audiology Series.
