Ongoing projects include:

Contralateral Suppression of Otoacoustic Emissions
Otoacoustic emissions provide a rapid way of assessing the health of the
sensory hair cells within the cochlea. It would be favorable to evaluate
the neural connections between ears at the same time. This project is
developing a new method of testing these pathways, by observing the
changes in emissions in a test ear, while noises are presented to the
opposite ear.

Vowel Maintenance and Auditory Feedback
Hearing one's own voice during talking plays a role in the production of
accurate speech. Speakers are known to change their vowel production in
response errors that are induced in their own voice presented over
headphones. The compensation to errors is only partial and some
individuals respond more strongly than others. This project is evaluating
why some talkers appear to make more use of auditory feedback during
ongoing speech.
