Western's String Bank is a collection of more than 40 fine Italian, French and English instruments and bows. These are available for loan to select violin, viola, cello and bass students in Music Performance, and are maintained by our resident experts.

Return of Current Instruments
Instruments must be returned to Len Ingrao in MB 124 by September 3, 2013.
Requests for late returns must be made by email NO LATER THAN 1 WEEK PRIOR to deadline to Annette-Barbara Vogel.
Annual String Instrument Care Workshop
MANDATORY FOR ALL Bowed STRING STUDENTS registered or intending to register for lessons (including non-majors)
All (bowed) string students, entering and continuing, graduate and undergraduate (including non majors):
DATE AND LOCATION TBA (anticipated to be Saturday, September 7, 2013, 10-12noon and 1-3pm) a workshop on instrument and bow repair and maintenance will be given by Toronto luthier Quentin Playfair and bow maker David Tamblyn.
String majors are required to attend. You will not be able to borrow String Bank instruments and bows September 2013 to August 2014 if you do not attend (even if you have attended last year's lectures).
String Bank Deadlines/Applications
String Bank Applications for Summer 2013 are now available to download. Please email them (including teacher’s signature) to Annette-Barbara Vogel.
Printed applications and further information are available on the Strings Bulletin Board and on the bulletin board outside Prof. Vogel’s studio (MB 242).
Late applications will only be considered if there are any instruments left.
