Important Update!

SSHRC has announced that the traditional SSHRC online system and CV will be used for the fall 2014 Insight Grant competition.  Thus, it will not use the Research Portal or the CCV.

SSHRC Upcoming Deadlines

The Ministry of Research and Innovation is launching Round 10 of the Early Researcher Award within the next week. Attachedare  the programs draft deadlines for your information.

 Please note that there have been a few changes to this round of the program:

  1. The eligibility date has been set as of July 1, 2013. Please refer to the eligibility guidelines for more details.
  2. There has been a change to the templates this round. The ERA program will be using fillable forms. These will be available on the website in the next few days.
  3. The budget can now be found at the END of the application form. In previous years, it had been a separate document.
  4. The Ministry now requires Institutional/Partner Matching Letters to be completed in a set template. This will also be made available on the Ministry’s webpage.
  5. Lastly, the Ministry has implemented guidelines for the formatting of CVs. This can be found within the program guidelines.



A representative from the Ministry will visit Western on Tuesday, May 6th to hold a Workshop.  This will take place at Sommerville House, Room 3317, at 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The Killam Research Fellowships are highly distinguished research grants supporting scholars of exceptional ability engaged in research projects of broad significance and interest. They provide two years’ release time from teaching and administrative responsibilities, with regular salary and benefits, to devote time and energy to research. Eligible studies are in social/natural/health sciences, engineering, humanities, or studies linking multiple disciplines. The internal deadline for application submission is Thursday, May 1, 2014. An information session on the Killam Program, which also includes the $100,000 Killam Prizes, will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 in the Support Services Building, Room 4220, at 10:30 AM.
