
Jay Hodgson is Associate Professor of Popular Music at Western University, where he teaches courses in songwriting and project paradigm record production. He has provided music for movies featured in Rolling Stone and SPIN Magazine, documentaries produced by the United Nations, and locally for institutions such as the YMCA of Canada, Huron College and Western University. He has produced, mixed and mastered more than 500 tracks in the last 18 months, for record labels as far afield as Sierra Leone, Ibiza, Berlin, New York City and Montreal. Records he mastered have topped beatport’s techno and tech house charts, and he is currently chief songwriter and head of Artist & Repertoire for Fields of Blonde, a startup label and sync-licensing house based in Chicago. His last book, Understanding Records, was recently acquired by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Reading Room.
