This issue still makes headlines but it is not a new story. Benjamin Britten's The Rape of Lucretia was based on a Roman tale, and will be performed by Western's UWOpera program November 22-24.
Theodore Baerg, director, and some of the cast will show the power of music to convey the message through the context of the opera.
They will be joined by Barbara MacQuarrie, form the Centre for Research and Education on Violence Against Women and Children. She will share insights from her research.
