Our Site

Each of our camps provides opportunities to explore our unique archaeological site and adjacent Museum. Full of hands-on activities, each camp offers opportunities for participants to learn about archaeology and to participate in digs.

The Lawson provincial heritage and archaeological dig site is respected as an area where approximately 1500 Iroquoian-speaking Neutral Indians lived in a semi-permanent village over 500 years ago. The Lawson site offers a unique educational experience for young explorers. A reconstructed longhouse and palisade accent the earthworks that originally identified the village site.

The Museum of Ontario Archaeology is a non-profit research institute and data base resource for professional, avocational, and student archaeologists that provides laboratory and field excavation experience. The museum houses over 2.5 million artifacts for analysis and maintains a public gallery for the interpretation of Ontario prehistory.

Young or old, all will enjoy!
