Discover Ontario’s First Nations’ by exploring the colours
of the rainbow, through legends, science and art.

Explore First Nations traditional
life and tools, and compare these to our modern day examples.

Uncover the archaeology of early

Archaeology in Ontario
Students will journey back in time to
explore the history of Ontario’s First Nations People through hands-on
exploration of artifacts and archaeological tools.

their own traditional pottery, explore underwater archaeology and learn how
archaeology is used to understand our Lawson archaeological site.

Relations in the Fur Trade
Discover the history of First Nations
peoples before and after contact with Europeans. Students will explore how
contact affected Canada’s First Nations peoples.

pouch, play traditional games & make a traditional craft.

The French Jesuit missionaries

Students will learn how to think critically about historical records.

First Nations’ & the War
of 1812 add-on
The War of 1812 was a defining event
in Canada’s history; with it’s 200th anniversary we are offering this special
30 mins. presentation exploring the role
Canada’s First Nations played.

Tour ($1/student), substituted in
another program, or as part of an outreach program.

Special Day programming
Full day only, available approx. April-October
Maximum of 50 students
Discover what it’s like to be an
archaeologist! Students will learn archaeological methods and will participate
in an excavation. This program will also include handling real artifacts,
gallery and site tour and more! Program runs rain or shine.
Note: Simulated archaeological
excavation $10/student

Life in a Longhouse - $10

Maximum of 35 students
This hands-on program will explore
the everyday life of the 16th century Attawandaron who lived in the Lawson
Village. Students will learn and prepare
samples of traditional foods, such as Three Sisters soup and bannock, play traditional games, and more!
