What is your future in linguistics?

As an undergraduate student in the interfaculty program in linguistics you have the opportunity to centre your studies in a field that "broadly speaking, is the scientific study of all aspects of human language. It is an exciting, growing field, with significant connections to other disciplines, such as philosophy, cognitive psychology, reading, and anthropology."

The addition of Linguistics to any field of study enhances your academic program with critical and analytical skills while contributing to your better understanding of human language (French, English and others). Students in many different fields also find that linguistics makes an interesting and engaging elective or optional course.

Careers in linguistics: some of the possibilities for your future in Linguistics.

Language and Linguistics graduates are sought after in today's globalized job market not only for their bi/multi-lingual skills but for their acutely developed communication skills and critical thought/analysis capabilities.

Dozens of technology start-ups are commercializing linguistics research, and competing to hire the relatively small pool of specialists on the topic.

Suddenly, linguists have their pick of jobs as lexicographers, "knowledge engineers" and "vocabulary-resource managers".
