A number of immersion opportunities
are available through Western. Students
can take a Western french credit course in Trois-Pistoles, Québec during
five-week intersession and summer sessions. A large number of
Government bursaries are available. These cover tuition and room
and board with a Québécois family; in addition, generous discounts
for travel by rail are usually available. Students doing an
honors degree in French have the option of spending their third
year in France at the Université de Nice or the Université de
Tours, or the universities of the Rhône-Alpes region of France. Spanish students may choose
to study in Spain, Mexico or Cuba. Students who speak German may
study at a number of German universities through the
Baden-Württemberg exchange program. For students with
above-average grades, more than a dozen scholarships are available
