Telephone Headsets
Effective May 1, 2010, Information Technology Services will no longer provide telephone headset rentals, sales, installation, repair or warranty service. Historically, telephone headsets had to be specifically selected based on the telephone set and were available primarily from the telephone vendors. This is no longer the case. Headsets are available from many different sources and in many configurations. Most will work effectively with the telephone sets being used at Western. Please see below for information on headsets that have been used successfully at Western along with some possible vendors for future headset purchases.
Existing rental headsets will be considered to be the property of the renting department effective May 1, 2010 and the monthly rental charge will be discontinued. No new rentals will be processed as of March 1, 2010. Until April 30, 2010, headsets may be purchased from ITS and service and support levels for rental headsets will remain unchanged. After that date, ITS will not provide sales, installation or repair support for headsets.
For voice trouble reports after April 30, 2010
- If a problem is determined to be a result of the telephone set or voice line, there will be no charge for the service call.
- If the problem is determined to be a result of the headset, Time and Materials rates will apply for the service call.
For headset troubleshooting tips to check prior to calling for service, please see the links below to FAQ information for some standard headsets.
Warranty date information for headsets previously rented through ITS can be obtained through the Plantronics website at http://www.plantronics.com/north_america/en_US/lifestyle/.
