SciFinder Site License

General Information:

Western Libraries provides access to SciFinder to support faculty, staff and students in their research, teaching and learning. SciFinder is a research tool designed to facilitate searching of information in the databases produced by Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) as well as the MEDLINE database of the US National Library of Medicine. The client version of SciFinder (software installed on your PC) was discontinued by CAS on June 30, 2011. Please register for your individual account of the SciFinder Web if you currently do not have one since it is required to access the database.

Access Restrictions:

SciFinder is ONLY available to faculty, staff, and students of Western University. Our site license agreement does not allow us to distribute this software to anyone outside of our own university. Users must also agree that they will not use SciFinder for commercial research.

Registration:

Register for SciFinder on the Web - only available to Western University Faculty, staff & students. Registration is a two-part process and must be completed from within the University's IP range.
