MATLAB Site License

General Information:

  • One concurrent MATLAB research license costs $175 (annually) and expires May 31.
  • License renewal notices are sent out each year in early May.
  • Licenses are restricted to Western faculty for RESEARCH purposes only.
  • All systems in a group must have a network connection.
  • All purchases include any software upgrades released by MathWorks.
  • A reserved license includes access to certain shared toolboxes (listed below).

Visit the ITS Software Distribution application to submit your request.

  • Undergraduate students have access to MATLAB (version 'a') in any of the
    GenLabs on campus.

System Requirements for MATLAB R2013a (v8.10)

  • Microsoft Windows operating system (32-bit or 64-bit)
  • Mac OSX operating system
  • Linux operating system (64-bit)
    NOTE: 32-bit Linux platform: R2012a is the last release for 32-bit Linux.
