ArcGIS Site License
General Information:
- ArcGIS is available to faculty, research staff and graduate students solely for teaching, research and administrative purposes.
- The site license expires on an annual basis (in mid-February)
- Renewals can be completed by logging in to WebCT OWL (under 'Course List' - select "ITS - Software Distribution")
- Professors and instructors (including graduate students) may install ArcGIS on their home/personal computers for Western research and/or class preparation.
- ArcGIS is available for instructor-led classes or to undergraduate students in the Genlabs (General Student Computing Labs).
- Contact the ITS Site License Coordinator to find out how to get an installation kit.
Versions available:
- ArcGIS 10.1 for Desktop: Basic (formerly known as ArcView)
- ArcGIS 10.1 for Desktop: Standard (formerly known as ArcEditor)
- ArcGIS 10.1 for Desktop: Advanced (formerlyknown as ArcInfo)

Taking ESRI Courses - Virtual Campus Enrollments:
- ESRI's ArcGIS Virtual Campus Courses are available to Western faculty, staff, and students.
- There is no additional cost to enroll in a course.
- Go to ESRI to see a complete listing of all the ArcGIS course descriptions.
- If you wish to enroll in one or more of the ESRI courses, complete the Virtual Course Request Form.
- Once you submit your request to ITS, you will receive an email with the ESRI Training Course Access Codes within three business days.
