Using Qualtrics for Research Surveys

Western’s Research Ethics Boards support the use of Qualtrics as an online survey software tool and as a way to document electronic consent. However, identifiable data such as names and emails MUST be collected separately (i.e. separate survey URLs) from research data.

To address privacy concerns, Qualtrics agreed to host Western's survey data in Ireland, not the United States.

PLEASE NOTE: Qualtrics collects IP addresses as the default. An IP address is considered an identifier. Western’s Research Ethics Boards require that unless IP address collection is justified to achieve research objectives, this feature must be disabled.

To disable IP Address collection on your survey, follow the instructions at https://www.qualtrics.com/support/survey-platform/survey-module/survey-options/survey-protection/ or submit a Jira ticket for more assistance.
