January 29, 2009, minor update to improve error handling during initialization.

• Errors that may occur while connecting to LDAP will now be properly displayed

June 25, 2008, updates to handle multiple UWO role definitions within LDAP as required by the UWO Single Identity Project.

• Uses both the description and uwoRole LDAP attributes to determine the user's UWO role.
• The following functions are now multiple-role aware:
  • Requests for new lists
  • Creation of new lists
  • Modifying list owners

December 4, 2007, improved the way email notification messages are formatted to better control bounces and user replies.

• Replaced Mail::Send with Mail::Sendmail which can better control the mail from: of the envelope header.
• Rewrote the mail_notify subroutine to use Mail::Sendmail and accept a sender address.
• Specified appropriate mail from: addresses (depending on the notification) to direct bounce messages.
• Specified Reply-To: addresses on some notifications to direct user replies to the appropriate addresses.
• Added note about caching (from 1.0.4) to the edit members/owners form page below the submit button (in addition to the existing notes on the submit page).

November 20, 2007, small changes to text messages.

• Added note to edit members/owners/options pages stating changes may not affect mail delivery for up to 15 minutes due to mail server caching.
• Removed border around edit owners results.

October 26, 2007, a minor update to improve bounce messages and add a link to the changes page.

• Added a link in the footer to the List Guardian changes page on the ITS website.
• New lists' LDAP entries now get mgrpErrorsTo=/ as required for the new version of the messaging server to ensure proper bounce messages are generated.

• Changed the wording on the description text of the "Members-only" and "Other-lists-only" options to indicate that members of sub-lists _ARE_ included. We previously believed members of sub-lists were not included but further testing has shown they are.
• Improved handling of whitespace. All whitespace is now converted to spaces and leading/trailing whitespace is stripped. This should prevent errors when users copy/paste addresses with tab characters in the addresses.

September 26, 2007, this version is a minor update to display any posting restrictions which would limit posting to members of another list. This was a feature from majordomo which was carried over, but not displayed in List Guardian. This has the possibility to cause confusion as the list owners would not know if this posting restriction was set or not. A future version will likely allow owners to add/remove/change this setting on their own.

• Added version number and last updated date to footer.
• Added "Other-lists-only" posting restriction to the List options page. This is only displayed if it exists and cannot be modified within List Guardian. Contact ITS for changes to this setting.

July 17, 2007, I am considering this revision of the List Guardian code to be version 1.0. It is mature and has proven itself stable. Also, all Western mailing lists are now migrated to List Guardian (as of September 23, 2007).
