Contents
Introduction
This procedure will outline the configuration required for a BlackBerry Curve - 8320 to connect to either one of Western's two secure wireless networks (EduRoam & UWO Secure) from factory settings using the native Odyssey client.
Procedure
Log in to your Western Identity Manager at
idm.uwo.ca
and synchronize your password.
Wait the 15 minutes or so and then proceed with configuration.
- Go to Manage Connections
- Select Set Up Wifi Network
- Manually add
- Security type= PEAP
- username:
- password:
- CA Certificate: Thawte Premium Server CA
- Leave all other options on wifi security screen as default
- Connect
- Save as a Profile? YES
Testing
You are done. You can now go through the process for the other secure network if you wish. To prove that it is working you can power off the phone and then power it back on. If you start a web browser the phone should use the wireless connection over the network if it is available. If you want to be sure you can go into Settings and choose either uwosecure or eduroam and it will use the saved certificate to make the authentication and connection process. The phone should now work anywhere on campus that it sees either of the secure networks automatically.
