How Do I ... Setup 'uwosecure-v2' network access on Windows 7
Introduction
This document will help you setup your wireless adapter to connect to the uwosecure-v2 network using Windows 7 (all versions).
First...
Make sure that your Western Identity Manager password has been synchronized here.
Procedure
First attempt to connect to the network using Method #1. If you are unsuccessful, then please use Method #2.
Method #1:
1. Click on the Wireless icon in the lower right corner of your screen. It should look like one of the images below:

Once clicked, you should now see a list of available wireless networks.
2. Click on 'uwosecure-v2'.

3. Click 'Connect'.

4. You should now be prompted for your Username and Password. Enter:
User Name: your Western usernamePassword: your Western password
(Note: Your username is the first part of your Western email address (eg. username@uwo.ca)
5. Click 'OK'.

6. If the system accepts your Username and Password, you MAY be prompted by a Windows Security Alert. If you are prompted, simply click 'Connect'. If you are not prompted, you may now already be connected.

7. Check the connection by using your internet browser and going to web sites.
If no errors pop up, you should now be connected. If you have issues with this, please use Method #2.
Method #2:
1. Click the 'Windows' logo ('Start Menu' button).
2. Click 'Control Panel'.

3. Double-Click 'Networking Sharing Centre'.
4. Click 'Set up a connection or network'.

5. Click 'Manually connect to a wireless network'.
6. Click 'Next'.

7. Enter the following information:
Network name: uwosecure-v2Security Type: WPA2-Enterprise
Encryption Type: AES
Leave everything else as default.
8. Click 'Next'.

9. Click 'Change connection settings'.
This will open the network properties window.

10. Uncheck 'Connect even if the network is not broadcasting'.

11. Click the 'Security' tab.
12. Under 'Choose a network authentication method':
Click 'Settings'.

13. From the 'Protect EAP Properties' window:
Check mark: 'Connect to these servers:'Enter: *.uwo.ca
Check mark these 3:
Thawte Premium Server CA
Thawte Premium Server CA
thawte Primary Root CA
Under 'Select Authentication Method:'
Click 'Configure'.

14. In the 'EAP MSCHAPv2 Properties' window.
Uncheck 'Automatically use my windows logon name and password (and domain if any)'.

15. Click 'OK' twice to return to 'uwosecure-v2 Wireless Network Properties'.
16. 'Advanced settings'.

17. Check mark: 'Specify authentication mode:'.
18. Verify 'User or computer authentication' is selected from the drop-down menu.

19. Click 'OK' twice to return to the desktop.
20. You will now be asked to provide additional information. Click anywhere on the bubble.

21. Enter the following:
User Name: your Western usernamePassword: your Western password
(Note: Your username is the first part of your Western email address (eg. username@uwo.ca)
22. Click 'OK'.

23. You will MAY now see a Windows Security Alert.
24. Click 'Connect'.

You should now be connected to uwosecure-v2 (it might take a minute to finish validating).
