How Do I ... Setup HTC Touch for Western Email

Introduction

This procedure will outline the configuration required for the HTC Touch to access your Western email account.

Procedure

Step 1 - Tap on the ‘Email’ icon.

Step 2 - Tap on ‘New Account’

Step 3 - Enter your UWO email address and password. You can choose to save your password. This is optional. Tap ‘Next’.

Step 4 - Remove the checkmark to get email settings automatically and tap ‘Next’.

Step 5 - Tap on the drop-down box and select ‘Custom domain’.

Step 6 - Once this is selected to will notice a message below the drop-down box. Tap ‘Next’.

Step 7 - Enter ‘UWO’ as the domain. Tap ‘next’.

Step 8 - Enter your name, as it will be displayed in your outbound email. Enter an account name. This can be any of your choosing. Tap ‘Next’.

Step 9 - Enter ‘imap.uwo.ca’ as the incoming mail server. Select ‘IMAP4’ from the dropdown box. Tap ‘Next’.

Step 10 - Enter your UWO user name and password. You can choose to save the password, this is optional. Tap ‘Next’.

Step 11 - Enter ‘smtp.uwo.ca’ as the outgoing mail server. Select both options below. Tap on ‘Advanced Server Settings’.

Step 12 - Select both SSL options. Select ‘The Internet’ from the drop-down box. Tap ‘Done’, then ‘Next’.

Step 13 - Select a Send/Receive interval from the dropdown box. The recommendation is to choose a value of 15 minutes or greater. Tap ‘Finish’.

Step 14 - You will now see your Inbox. This will take a few moments to populate, depending on the amount of email in your account. Once this is complete, tap on ‘Menu’ and select ‘Tools’.

Step 15 - Select ‘Options’. You will be presented a list of email accounts on the following screen. Select the account with the ‘ * ‘ beside it.

Step 16 - Tap on the ‘Download Size Settings’.

Step 17 - Select the options that best suit your personal preferences. The recommendation is as show on the screen. Once selected tap ‘Done’.

Step 18 - You will now be returned to the main screen. You can view your email be either tapping on the email icon in the center of the screen, or by tapping on ‘Inbox’.
