How Do I ... Setup Outlook Connector version 8.0

Supported / Unsupported

Supported OS’s:    Window 7, Vista
    Not Supported OS’s:  XP, 2003 server and earlier
Supported Versions of Office:  2007 / 2010
    Not Supported Office Versions:  2003, earlier

 

To install the new version of the Connector for Outlook you will first need to choose whether you need to upgrade your current version or if you need to install a fresh version.

Check for previous version

    Through Outlook 

  • Click on ‘Help’ at the top of the Outlook window.
  • Click on ‘About Connector for Microsoft Outlook…’
  • The version number will be located next to ‘Product Version:’

    From Start Menu

  • Click the ‘Start’ button
  • Click ‘Control Panel’
  • In the upper right corner of the window, click the pull-down menu and choose ‘Small Icons’
  • Now in the main list, choose ‘Programs and Features’

 

Fresh Install Method

Click on this link SJOC Installation File to download the installer file.

Go to the location that you downloaded the file and double-click it to start the installer.

 

Click ‘Next’.

 

 

If you are prompted by the User Account Control to authorize the computer to install software, simply enter the username and password for an administrator account and click ‘Yes’.

 

In the next window, enter the following:

          First Name, Last Name        : FirstName LastName
          Email Address                    : user@uwo.ca
          Username                          : user
          Password                           : password

   * Be sure to click the check box to save the User Name and Password

 

Click ‘Next’.

 

 

The install will proceed.

 

 

Once it has completed the setup of the Connector software, simply click ‘Exit’.

 

 

Now, start up Outlook and the connector will complete the connection between our system and Outlook. 

 

Upgrade Install Method

 

Click on this link SJOC Installation File to download the upgrade installer file.

Go to the location that you downloaded the file and double-click it to start the installer.

 

Click ‘Next’.

 

 

If you are prompted by the User Account Control to authorize the computer to install software, simply enter the username and password for an administrator account and click ‘Yes’.

 

Once it has completed the setup of the Connector software, simply click ‘Exit’.

 

 

Now, start up Outlook and the connector upgrade will be completed.

POST INSTALL CHECKLIST

 

To perform the Post Installation Checklist, do the following:

          Click on the ‘Start’ button.
          Click on the ‘Control Panel’ button.
          Double-click the ‘Mail’ icon.
          Click on ‘Show Profiles’.

 

 

Click on ‘Western – OC’ then click ‘Properties’.

 

 

In the new window, click ‘Email Accounts’.

 

 

Click on ‘Folders – FirstName LastName then click ‘Change’.

 

 

This brings up the details window.  Ensure that your settings are identical to what is below (Note: enter your personal information in place of the red text):

 

      - Servers

          Incoming Mail:            imap.uwo.ca              Port:   993         SSL: ‘checked’
          Outgoing Mail:            smtp.uwo.ca              Port:   465         SSL: ‘checked’
          Calendar:                   calendar.uwo.ca         Port:   443         SSL: ‘checked’
          Address Book:            iwc.uwo.ca                 Port:   443         SSL: ‘checked’
          Global Address List:    directory.uwo.ca         Port:   389         SSL: ‘unchecked’

     - User

          Full Name:         FirstName LastName
          User Name:       user
          Password:         password         *Checkmark  ‘Remember Password
          Email Address:  user@uwo.ca

 

 

 

Now, within the same window click on the ‘Calendar’ tab at the top.

 

Ensure that next to the calendar server URL that ‘davserver/wcap’ is there.  If it is not there, add it.

 

Next, click ‘OK’ since you are done with that window.

 

 

Next, close all of the Mail and Control Panel windows by clicking ‘OK’ on each and open up Outlook.

Now, if you’ve made changes to the mail profile, you will get a message like this:

Simply click ‘Yes’.

 

 

After clicking ‘Yes’, you will get the following window.  Check mark the ‘Empty All’ box then click ‘Yes’ to continue.   

Doing this will not harm your emails or calendar entries.

 

 

You are now finished the Post Installation Checklist.
