How Do I... Clear My Personal File Space
Introduction
Your Personal File Space is DIFFERENT from your mail quota. Your Personal File Space contains files for your published web page, files saved to your personal drive in any of the ITS General Purpose Labs and files downloaded while using the Library Sun Work Station.
Please Note: The following procedure cannot be completed from a Library SunRay workstation. For assistance in resolving your personal file space from these systems refer to http://www.lib.uwo.ca/help/sunrays.
Procedure
SSH - Windows
In order to clear your Personal File Space from a Windows operating system a program called SSH is needed. It can be downloaded here.
Note in order to access download area you will need your student/staff user ID and password.
- Open SSH Secure File Transfer Program.
- Click on Quick Connect
- A new window will come up. For Host Name, use sftp.uwo.ca, and for the User Name, use your UWO student or staff user ID.
- On the right hand side of the screen you will now see your Personal File Space. Navigate into the Desktop folder or Documents folder and delete any files that are not needed.
Fugu - Mac
In order to clear your Personal File Space on a Mac, a program called Fugu is needed. It can be downloaded by searching Google for Fugu.
- Open Fugu.
- Input the following information in the appropriate fields
- "Connect to:" --> sftp.uwo.ca
- "Username:" --> Uwo User ID
- "Port:" --> 22
- Click 'Connect'
- Enter your UWO password and click 'Authenticate'.
- On the right hand side of the screen you will now see your Personal File Space. Navigate into the Desktop folder or Documents folder and delete any files that are not needed.
Once you have finished your efforts to reduce your quota check through the self serve web form to ensure everything is back to acceptable levels.
