Our research aims to understand the neural bases of a variety of mental abilities. With the broad spectrum of disciplines that constitute the Brain and Mind Institute, we hope to create a vibrant work environment that advances the field of cognitive neuroscience in such areas as labeled in the picture below. Our approach is to integrate expertise and techniques from the fields of psychology, neurophysiology, linguistics, artificial intelligence, computational theory, biophysics, philosophy and anthropology. With emphasis on dialogue between the fields, training of highly qualified personnel, and the fostering of national and international collaborations (see map), the Brain and Mind is pushing forward the boundaries of cognitive neuroscience.
