Event Description:

Professor Tami Spry: By The Roots: A performative auteothnographic negotiation of race, class, gender,
and age.
Tami Spry is a Professor of Performance Studies in the Communication Studies Department at St.
Cloud State University in Minnesota. Her national and international publication and performance work
focuses on issues of gender violence, mental health, race, and loss as articulated through performative
autoethnography and non-traditional texts. Tami’s publications appear in Text and Performance
Quarterly, Cultural Studies of Critical Methodologies, Qualitative Inquiry, International Review of
Qualitative Research, Women and Language, The Sage Handbook of Qualitative Research, 4th Ed. as well
as other journals and anthologies. Her 2011 book Body/Paper/Stage: Writing and Performing
Autoethnography is published through Left Coast Press.
