Summer Academic Orientation (SAO)
Please be sure to visit www.sao.uwo.ca to register for SAO. Both in-person and telephone counselling appointments are available between June 19 and July 31, 2014. Western staff will provide you with personal, one-to-one assistance to help you select and register for courses, and answer any questions you may have about your transition to life at Western. Don't miss this valuable opportunity to prepare for a successful start in September.

Airport Greeting
(Toronto, Pearson International Airport)

Western University is part of the Toronto Airport Welcome Booth, staffed by volunteer students from August 15 to September 8.

The Welcome Booth is located outside the baggage claim area at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Please stop by the booth to pick up your free gift bag and make a free international call home. Pearson Airport offers free Wi-Fi service for those with mobile devices, allowing you to send a quick message home about your safe arrival.

Western International Liaison Officer, Betty Chang, will be at the Toronto Pearson International Airport between 12 pm and 8 pm on Friday, August 29 to greet you and assist you with onward transportation.

If your flight arrives during those times, you will see Betty wearing a Western purple t-shirt as you exit the secure baggage claim area. The Welcome Booth staff will help you find Betty if you don't see her at your arrival terminal. We look forward to welcoming you to Canada soon!

International and Exchange Student Centre (IESC)
Over the summer, you will receive materials from the International and Exchange Student Centre. Please be sure to visit www.iesc.uwo.ca to access critical information for your arrival, and to ease your transition to life in Canada and at Western.

The IESC is a great resource throughout your time at Western for counselling, assistance and support, as well as helpful transition and social programs.

IESC offers a reception service from August 25 to September 12, and an after hours welcome helpline: +1 519-661-2111 ext. 85908 from August 25 to September 2, from 4:30 pm to 8:30 am, to help newly arriving international students. Once you arrive at Western, be sure to visit IESC to pick up your orientation package, including a copy of the International Student Handbook.
