Germany: Worms University of Applied Sciences
Located on the Rhine River, Worms is bordered on the east by the Odenwald forest and on the west by the palatinate mountains. At the beginning of our era, the site of Worms was the site of the chief town of the Vangiones tribe: Civitas Vangonium (the chief town of the Vangiones). The Vangiones were eventually expelled from their town by the Romans. The Romans were then succeeded by the Burgundians in the 5th century, followed by the Franks in the 7th century, then the Salier and Staufer emperors and the French in the 17th century. Today, Worms has approx. 82,000 inhabitants and is characterized by a varied industrial landscape (wood and plastics industries, chemistry).
