Candidates for the Global and Intercultural Engagement Certificate can claim points in this Category in a variety of ways. Students with functional fluency in a foreign language can prove in several ways. The first is by taking courses at Western in a foreign language: students will be awarded 20 points per 1.0 credit they complete. The second is by proving fuctional fluency developed outside univeristy. For example: students whose first language not English could attach a copy of their certificate of English proficiency used for Western admission, students could attach proof of graduation from a French Immersion Secondary school, students who have taken languages outside of Western could attach transcripts or a certificate of completion, etc... If you are unsure as to how you will prove a language proficiency you would like to claim, please contact International Learning. Students may claim 20 points per language with a maximum of 50 points.
