Selecting a Candidate
A well designed and executed recruitment and selection process creates the path to strong hiring decisions. Be sure to discuss your assessment with your Human Resources Consultant before finalizing a decision. If you are feeling unsure at this point, be sure to discuss potential clarifying strategies with your Consultant.
Important Considerations:
- Have we gathered sufficient information to make an accurate assessment of the candidates?
- What other sources of information may exist to help in our decision process?
- Are there any biases we may have towards candidates which may be affecting our assessment?
- Do the assessment scores make sense?
- Have we accurately scored candidates on the selection criteria?
- Do the weights assigned to the selection criteria accurately reflect the priorities for this position?
- Are there any collective agreement or other policy requirements which need to be considered in this decision?
