Associated Persons -
Access to University Resources
What Western resources/services does a Registered Associated Person receive?
Once the Western ID and UserID is established, the individual will have access to the appropriate computer accounts, libraries and other Western resources and services at Western based on the relationship type.
• ITS Services
ITS will automatically setup a UserID and password and access to default services including Email, Calendar and access to Wireless @ Western.
• Access to Networks and other University Resources
Depending on previously established department rules and the relationship, specific access to networks, etc., can be requested once approved by the appropriate Unit Head. For access that is managed by ITS, such as cluster and Western Roams, please refer to Request for Access to Corporate Information.
• Western ONECard
If a Western ONECard is required, the individual must visit Student Central in the Western Student Services Building, in order to have their photo taken for their new Western ONECard. They will need to take their Western ID letter and photo ID with them to Student Central.
The Western ONECard is more than just a Photo ID Card. It is also a library card, campus meal plan card, and can be used for door access.
Please refer to the following for more information on the Western ONECard. Refer to the following for the Location and Office Hours for Student Central.
•Library Access
It is important that a Western ONECard is obtained before accessing library services.
Currently, Libraries does not record information on multiple appointments. In rare situations, issues may surface for individuals who have multiple relationships at the University.
•Western Human Resources Website
The individual can visit the Western Human Resources website, www.uwo.ca/humanresources, to view their personal data or update their personal information on our system. The sign on UserID and password for this application is the same as has been assigned by the Western computer accounts office for other applications.
Managing the Western Directory
The Western Directory is a service provided by the department of Information Technology Services (ITS). Please refer to the following ITS documentation Western Directory.
Individuals with an active appointment/relationship in Human Resources (i.e. faculty, staff, or associated person) will automatically be included in the Western Directory and will automatically be removed once their appointment/relationship has ended.
Current limitations of the Western Directory:
The Western Directory can only automatically manage one active appointment/relationship at a time (i.e. for one department). Individuals who have more than one appointment/relationship in more than one department must be managed manually. Please contact the ITS Computer Accounts Office directly to request the manual addition of a role to this person for your department. Please remember all manually added roles will need to be manually removed at your request.
