Meetings that Work - Skills for Meeting Leaders

 

This two-day program is intended to help both experienced and novice meeting leaders get the most out of precious meeting time.

Topics include:

  • effective meeting planning and agenda design

  • developing key questions to foster constructive dialogue

  • methods to support participant engagement in group planning and problem analysis

  • managing challenging behaviours/ group dynamics

  • resolving unproductive differences

  • methods for making effective group decisions and gaining consensus

  • closing agenda items with clear actions and follow-up

Eligibility

  • Western employees who actively lead meetings as part of their role
    (e.g. committees, project teams, work teams, etc.)

Course Format

The learning design for this two-day program includes both presentation and action-learning methods. Participants will have multiple meeting practice opportunities focused on application of new concepts and tools. Case studies and practice scenarios are set in Western’s environment.

Cost - Course costs are covered by Western Human Resources and are offered at no charge to participants.

Withdrawal Fee - Once you register, we begin preparing materials and resources for your participation. If you need to withdraw from a course, your department may incur a fee of up to $150 to help cover the costs of these resources.
