Volunteers

What do conference volunteers do?

Western employees are invited to get involved in the conference by becoming a volunteer during conference week. Volunteer roles include: greeting people, directing “people traffic”, managing handouts, and introducing and thanking presenters, setting up and taking down.

Who can volunteer?

Any employee who plans to attend the conference may choose to register as a volunteer.

How much time do I need to commit?

Volunteers must commit to attending one Volunteer Preparation Meeting, and should be available for two or more sessions throughout the conference. A preparation meetings is being held in the Support Services Building, Room 4220, on February 14th from 11am to 12:00pm. At the meeting, volunteers will receive the volunteer schedule, nametags, and instruction specific to their positions. There will be opportunity to ask questions and discuss the roles. Refreshments will be available.

During the conference, volunteers are asked to arrive 15-20 minutes before the conference sessions begin.

How do I sign up?

Simply register for the conference, and indicate at the end of your registration that YES -- you would like to be a volunteer. After the registration period closes, we will contact you to let you know which sessions we would like help with.
