Postdoctoral scholars at the University of Western Ontario are invited to participate in the first Postdoctoral Research Day, showcasing the breadth and depth of the research done by postdocs at Western. This event will be held at the Great Hall, on September 27th, 2011. The Research Day was created by the School of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies to foster scientific interaction, interdepartmental collaboration, and garner greater exposure and recognition for the postdocs' invaluable work. We invite all of you to submit abstracts to be considered for poster or podium presentations, providing the other members of the community, faculty members and industry representatives the opportunity to learn about the cutting-edge research conducted in different faculties, throughout the campus. As an added benefit, participants - both presenters and audience - will have a chance to fine-tune their public speaking and presentation skills. Travel awards will be presented to the successful presenters. Important information: Please submit your abstracts by August 29th at: http://grad.uwo.ca/events/postdocresearchday/ Re-Imagine Conference - Come join us on October 20, 2011 at Wilfrid Laurier University where we will explore the opportunities to re-imagine the academy of higher learning. In the age of exponential enrolment growth and the most complex student base in history, universities are under pressure to redefine their roles. Are there traditions of higher education we should change? Are there traditions we should maintain? What models should we envision for universities and post-secondary systems?
The conference will feature keynote addresses by Mr. Paul Davidson, President, Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) and Dr. Bill Tierney, Wilbur-Kieffer Professor of Higher Education and Director of the Centre for Higher Education Policy Analysis at the University of Southern California.
Registration is now open.
