There are 4 setup requirements that you need to perform on your PC to enable you to open and drill on nVision reports.
Requirement #1:
nVision Drill Down Requirements
There are two steps required to get your systems prepared to run drill downs on your nVision reports using Peoplesoft v8.80
Step 1 – Download the
DrillToPIA.xla file.
1. Right-click on the link DrillToPIA.xla
2. When asked where to save the target or file select c:\ or c:\temp.
3. Click on OK
Step 2 – Add
DrillToPIA into your excel software.
1. Open Excel
2. Click on Tools
3. Click on Add-Ins
4. Click on Browse
5. In the Look In Box – select the directory where you saved your DrillToPIA.xla file from step 1
6. Click on the DrillToPIA file
7. Click on OK
8. Click on OK
9. You should now see nVisionDrill in your toolbar within Excel.
Requirement #2: Excel Setup – using true excel to view your reports
1. From your desktop - open "My Computer"
2. Click on Tools
3. Click on Folder Options
4. Click on the File Types tab
5. In the Registered File Types box scroll down until you see XLS Microsoft Excel Worksheet (hint – this listing is alphabetical so it will be down near the very bottom)
6. Click on XLS Microsoft Excel Worksheet in the Registered File Types box
7. Click on the Advanced button in the bottom right corner.
8. Remove any check marks from the following boxes:
· Confirm open after download
· Always show extension
· Browse in same window
9. Click on OK
10. Click on Close
Requirement #3: Certificates required for security
There are two steps required to get your systems prepared to allow drill downs for your nVision reports using Peoplesoft v8.80
Step 1 – Download the
Root Certificate.
1. Right-click on the link cacert.cer
2. When asked where to save the target or file select c:\ or c:\temp.
3. Click on OK
Step 2 – Install the
Root Certificate
1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Click on Tools
3. Click on Internet Options
4. Click on the tab entitled Content
5. Click on the button entitled Certificates in the centre of the page
6. Click on the tab entitled Trusted Root Certification Authorities
7. Click on the button entitled Import
8. Click on Next
9. Click on Browse and then select the directory where you saved your cacert.cer file from step 1
10. Click on the cacert.cer file
11. Click on Open
12. Click on Next
13. Ensure your screen appears as follows:
14. Click on Next
15. Click on Finish
16. You should now receive a message stating that The import was successful.
17. Click on OK
18. Click on Close
19. Click on OK
20. Now when you go to the UWO Financials login screen you should no longer receive the security verification message.
Requirement #4: Internet Explorer must be your default browser
1. Open Internet Explorer
2. Click on Tools
3. Click on Internet Options
4. Click on the tab entitled Programs
5. Place a check mark, by clicking in the box, beside the words “Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser”.
i. Hint – if this box is already checked then Internet Explorer is likely already your browser.
6. Close Internet Explorer
7. Open Internet Explorer
8. You may receive a message box stating that “Internet Explorer is not currently your default browser. Would you like to make it your default browser?”.
i. If you receive the above message – click Yes
ii. If you do not receive the above message than internet explorer was already set as your default browser.
Congratulations you should now be able to view, print and drill down on nVision reports!
