Bursaries are non-repayable, taxable grants issued to students who demonstrate financial need. They supplement other sources of funding such as OSAP, the student's own resources and/or those of the parents/spouse.

Internal Bursaries

Completion of an application form is required for consideration. Applications and information are available from the School of Physical Therapy administrative office - Elborn College Room 1588.

London District Canadian Physiotherapy Association Bursary

One award of $300 awarded annually to any student in the Master of Physical Therapy program who has demonstrated unmet financial need through an OSAP-type needs assessment.

Sally Morgan Bursary

Two awards of $1 000 each awarded annually to students entering their final year of the Master of Physical Therapy program who have demonstrated unmet financial need through an OSAP-type needs assessment.

Faculty of Health Sciences Clinical Education Placement Travel Support Fund

Students with placements that occur outside of London can apply for support to a maximum total value of $400. Students may apply for this one-time per budget year (May 1 – April 30) to help offset some of the additional costs associated with travel outside of London for a placement.

Distance Clinical Placement Bursary

An award of $450 per year for a second year student based on financial need.

Leslie A. Bisbee Clinical Experience Bursary in Physical Therapy

This bursary is awarded to a student in clinical placements PT9584 or PT9585 during the final year of the Master of Physical Therapy program who has demonstrated a financial need. The bursary will provide support for travel and accommodation expenses associated with a senior placement (preference will be given for an out of province or international placement).

External Bursaries and Scholarships

OPA-Westgate District Bursary

A single bursary in the amount of $250 may be awarded annually to a graduating (Year II) student enrolled full-time in each of the five Ontario University Physical Therapy Programs who demonstrates excellence towards the betterment of the profession and advancement of the Ontario Physiotherapy Association (OPA). To be eligible for consideration, the student’s permanent residence must be from within the geographical boundaries of the OPA Westgate District. The Westgate District encompasses Dufferin and Peel Counties, Halton County (excluding the two of Burlington) and that part of York County West of Highway 11 (but excluding towns on Hwy 22 and the postal district of Willowdale). The student must be nominated by the physiotherapy faculty and the nomination must be accompanied by a 150-word submission from the nominee incorporating his/her contribution to the profession.

Ontario Federation for Cerebral Palsy Therapy Scholarship

An annual scholarship of $2,000 will be awarded to a student who has completed their first year of instruction at an approved institution of higher learning, offering the following therapy courses:

  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physiotherapy

The Selection Committee is interested in the student’s volunteer/employment endeavours and/or family involvement with individuals with physical disabilities. Personality, attitude and leadership attributes of the applicant will also be considered through personal/professional letters of reference. Academic and community references are acceptable. Please note that transcripts are required.

The Therapy Scholarship, in the amount of $2 000 is paid in two installments of $ 1000 each. The first payment is given at the beginning of the fall term of the second year program. The second payment is given at the beginning of the spring term of the second year program.
