Bursaries

Bursaries are non-repayable, taxable grants issued to students who demonstrate financial need. They supplement other sources of funding such as OSAP, the student's own resources and/or those of the parents/spouse.

In addition, the School of Occupational Therapy offers several bursaries to provide financial assistance to students.

Distance Clinical Placement Bursary in Occupational Therapy

This bursary is awarded to a full-time student in the MScOT program who is participating in a clinical placement. Applicants must demonstrate the need to pay for accommodation in a Canadian placement location for the period of their clinical/fieldwork course in addition to the cost incurred in maintaining their university-location housing.

Applications can be obtained from the School of Occupational Therapy and must be submitted by September 26.

This award is made possible through an endowment established by Miss M. Virginia Harris.

Award Amount: Two students awarded $400 each

OTDBASE Distance Fieldwork Bursary

This bursary is awarded based on financial need to a full-time student in the MScOT program who is participating in a clinical placement. Applicants must demonstrate that they have to pay for accommodation in a Canadian placement location for the period of their clinical/fieldwork course in addition to the cost incurred in maintaining their university-location housing.

Applications can be obtained from the School of Occupational Therapy and must be submitted by September 26.

Occupational Therapy Student Bursary

This bursary is awarded to students in the MScOT program based on financial need.

Award Amount: Four to six students awarded $500 each

Marilyn Conibear Bursary

This bursary is awarded annually to a full-time student in the School of Occupational Therapy (Year 2) who demonstrates financial need and meets OSOTF* guidelines.

Applications can be obtained from the School of Occupational Therapy and must be submitted by September 26.

This bursary was established through Foundation Western by Marilyn Ernest-Conibear.

Award Amount: $700

*OSOTF – Recipients of these awards/scholarships/bursaries must meet criteria set out by the university for determining financial need and the provincial residency requirements as specified by OSAP.

Arlene Shimeld Bursary

Preference given to a Year 1 student in the MScOT program who demonstrates financial need and meets OSOTF* guidelines.

Applications can be obtained from the School of Occupational Therapy and must be submitted by September 26.

This bursary was established through Foundation Western in honour of Arlene Shimeld by Marilyn Ernest-Conibear.

Award Amount: $700

Ronald and Gladys Richardson Bursary

This bursary is awarded to a full-time graduate student in Year 2 of the MScOT program who demonstrates financial need.
