Practice placements are an integral part of the Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing curriculum. The majority of the practice settings accessed by nursing students are located in the South West Local Health Integration Network (LHIN). This LHIN offers abundant, diverse, and rewarding learning opportunities for nursing students in a variety of rural, community, and urban settings with diverse client populations across the life span. Students should be aware that placement opportunities may vary from term to term, depending on availability. Although students may not have the exact same placement experiences, each practice setting will provide a unique opportunity for students to apply and develop their knowledge and skills in a practice setting. There is strong infrastructure support by way of formal agreements between The University of Western Ontario and all practice settings to ensure specific agency requirements are met to enable student placements. All placements are arranged by the Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing Placement Coordinators and the Nurse Practitioner (NP) Program Coordinator. Additional prerequisite information is available on our Placement Requirements web page. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from placements and for costs of travel and accommodation. Qualifying students may apply for partial reimbursement through the Travel Support Fund (TSF). The TSF criteria, application deadlines, and application form are available in Owl (Placement Information site). Sue Leach Wendy McCrady Michelle WaglerGeneral Practice Placement Information
