Post Grad School Plans: Once I complete my PhD, I hope to teach within an undergraduate nursing program and pursue further research in the area of nursing education.
Why Western Nursing: I chose Western University because I liked the collegial atmosphere and support that I received from faculty members.
What inspired me to pursue an advanced degree: Throughout my time working as a staff nurse, I enjoyed the contact time that I had with Western nursing students. My goal in pursuing further education in nursing was to develop knowledge in the area of nursing education so I could assume a teaching position.
Favourite Western memory: The opportunities I have had to join many faculty research teams and travel to places like Jamaica and Edmonton to present study findings. Faculty members have not only made me feel like an integral part of the research team, but I have also developed my knowledge and skill in the research process.
Best thing about being a student at Western: Meeting other master's and PhD students in the program. Everyone is very supportive and friendly and they make the learning process interesting and fun!
Advice to students considering Western: If you have the time and commitment to pursue graduate studies, Western is the place for you. Throughout your time at Western, faculty and fellow students will assist you to feel supported in reaching your educational goals. You will also have the opportunity to meet some amazing people and experience another side of nursing.
