Vicki Smye, RN, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the UBC School of Nursing and an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences, Simon Fraser University, B.C.

Areas of expertise:

Dr. Smye has conducted research in the area of access to mental health and addictions services with a particular interest in inequities and access.

Position on team:

Dr. Smye is a New Investigator on this project and is interested in examining “the harms and benefits for women accessing health care after leaving intimate partner violence.” Further, she is interested in understanding how the safety of health care encounters might be optimized for women. She currently holds a partner-driven 3-year CIHR-funded operating grant titled: Aboriginal peoples’ experiences of mental health and addictions care: Toward improved access.
