Areas of expertise:

Marilyn is an expert community mental health practitioner with an established research record in the area of woman abuse. She has published on the process of survival for women during the time just prior to leaving and the early years after leaving an abusive partner. She has a long history of involvement in not-for-profit women’s groups and mental health advocacy work at governance and policy levels.

Position on team:

As part of the WHES team Marilyn takes a lead role in managing the NB data collection site and facilitating knowledge translation with New Brunswick policy personnel and service providers. Marilyn takes a lead role in examining the effects of abuse on women’s psychiatric health overtime and plans to examine the effect living in a rural context has on abuse survivors’ health and economic well-being.
