The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BScN) is a 4-year program that qualifies graduates to apply for registration as a professional nurse with The College of Nurses of Ontario. The program is offered collaboratively by the University of Western Ontario and Fanshawe College of Applied Arts and Technology.
There are two streams in the program:
The Western Site: Students remain at The University of Western Ontario for all four years of the program.
The Fanshawe College Site: Students study at Fanshawe College for the first two years before moving to Western for Years 3 and 4.
Program requirements are the same at both sites. This is a highly competitive program and applicants should strive to achieve an average in the mid 80’s

PLEASE NOTE:
All students applying to the Western-Fanshawe Collaborative BScN program do so through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (www.ouac.on.ca), choosing program code "ENW" for Western and "ENF" for Fanshawe College. Students are encouraged to apply to both Western and Fanshawe where applicable. No other supplemental application is required.
Priority consideration shall be given, all other things being equal, first to Canadian citizens and permanent residents from Ontario, and second to Canadian citizens and permanent residents from other Canadian provinces. Special consideration may be given to a student supported by the Canadian Development Agency or a similar agency.
Enrolment in this program is limited and possession of the minimum requirements should not be viewed as a guarantee of admission.

Applicants Presenting the Ontario Grade 12 Diploma
Applicants must have a minimum of six U or M-level credits. including:
REQUIRED - 65% in each of
Grade 12 U English
Grade 12 U Biology
Grade 12 U Chemistry
And 65% in one of:
Grade 11 Functions and Applications (MCF3M)
Grade 11 Functions (MCR 3U)
Applicants with High School Standing from other Canadian Province
Applicants from other provinces in Canada are eligible to apply for admission on the basis of senior matriculation if their academic records meet, in subject matter and standing obtained, both the admission requirements of this School and the admission requirements of a recognized university in their own province.
Aboriginal discretionary admissions
The School of Nursing recognizes that Aboriginal Peoples are not adequately represented in the nursing profession and therefore welcomes their applications. Eligible Aboriginal candidates may be admitted to the Western-Fanshawe Collaborative BScN program from one of two paths:
Aboriginal candidates who have successfully completed the program's admission requirements, and whose admission average has met the annual program admission average as determined by the School of Nursing and the University's Admissions Office, will be considered for admission along with all other program applicants.
Aboriginal candidates who have successfully completed the program's admission requirements, but whose overall average has NOT met the annual program admission average as determined by the School of Nursing and the University's Admissions Office, will be considered on a discretionary basis to fill four seats (two seats at the Western site and two seats at the Fanshawe College site) set aside for applicants in this latter category.
Applicants Currently Enrolled in a University, or who have Previously Attended University or other Post-Secondary Institutions
Entry to the Western-Fanshawe Collaborative BScN program is on a competitive basis. Applicants applying to transfer into or enter the nursing program are considered on the basis of their OSSD average and university or other post-secondary standing.
Specifically, students applying with one year of full-time university study must have achieved a minimum 70% overall average; students having completed 2 or more full time years of university may be admitted on the basis of a minimum overall average of 70% in the final two years of study. Students applying from university with less than 10 full courses will require a 70% overall average on all university work completed.
Students applying from a community college, must have achieved an overall GPA of 2.5 in a completed program.
All students applying to the program must have completed the equivalent of the following senior secondary school courses with a minimum grade of 65% in each of:
Grade 12 English ENG4U
Grade 12 Biology SBI4U
Grade 12 Chemistry SCH4U
One of:
Grade 11 Functions and Applications MCF3M
Grade 11 Functions MCR3U
Fanshawe College Pre-Health Science Ontario College Certificate*
(Note: minimum final grade required in each course is 'B')
*Admission to the Fanshawe College Pre-Health Science program does not guarantee admission in a subsequent year to the Nursing program. Successful completion of the Fanshawe College Pre-Health Science program, however, does enable the student who lacks the requirements from secondary school, to be given consideration when applying for the Nursing program. Students who are currently registered in the Fanshawe College Pre-Health Science program must successfully complete every course with a minimum grade of 'B' or higher in the Fanshawe College Pre-Health Science program by April 30, 2012 in order to be eligible for admission consideration. ONLY APPLICANTS WITH AN ONTARIO COLLEGE CERTIFICATE FROM THE FANSHAWE COLLEGE PRE-HEALTH SCIENCE PROGRAM WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR ADMISSION TO THE NURSING PROGRAM IN LIEU OF THE STATED SECONDARY SCHOOL REQUIREMENTS. Applicants from another Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology Pre-Health Science or Pre-Nursing program must have the stated secondary school requirements in order to be considered for admission.
