About the Keynote Speaker

Michele Manocchi, PhD

Michele Manocchi, PhD, is the Intercultural Education Specialistthe Cross Cultural Learner Centre in London, Ontario. His mandate is to develop, update, and improve the intercultural education program and to deliver high-quality training sessions and courses. Before this position (started in January 2017), he coordinated the Seeds of Change project at FSTV/camh for almost two years, where he developed, implemented, and delivered educational training for those who interact with immigrants and refugees struggling with mental health and addiction issues.

Thanks to his PhD in Comparative Social Research (earned in Italy), Michele is also involved in several research activities across Canada and internationally. He is member of the Centre for Research on Migration and Ethnic Relations at Western University, and he collaborates with Ryerson University and McGill University, in addition to Universities of Turin, Milan, and Parma in Italy. His main research interests are on evaluation research; intercultural education; undocumented migrants; reception systems; settlement services and social policies for refugees and migrants; labelling processes and practices of resistance.
