OT's Lynn Shaw earns Mellon Grant

Lynn Shaw, a University of Western Ontario School of Occupational Therapy associate professor, has been awarded the Mellon Retired and Visiting Scholars Mentorship Project Grant. As such, she has been invited to the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Cape Town as a Mellon-funded visiting mentor for two, two-month visits in 2011 and 2012. Read more.

The aim of the alterations was/is to make information easier to find for regular and first-time users of the site. Health Sciences signs collaborative agreement with Spanish university

After two years of collaborative research in the area of exercise during pregnancy, Western's Faculty of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Physical Activity & Sport Sciences at the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid have signed a formal agreement to advance the research links of both institutions through knowledge exchange, research proposals and visitation between the schools. Kinesiology Professor Emeritus Doug Hayes passes away

Long-time Western Mustangs men's basketball coach and School of Kinesiology Professor Emeritus Doug Hayes passed away on Saturday morning at age 68 after a long battle with illness. (Read more)

Bob Gage leaves $1 million to Western

September 13, 2010

The University of Western Ontario announced today a major bequest of $1 million from the late Bob "Scoop" Gage that will bring his total giving to the university to almost $1.2 million. The bequest from the long-time London Free Press sports reporter will support current Mustangs and future generations of Western student-athletes. (Read more)

FHS Dream Team Supports the Make-A-Wish

The students in the Faculty of Health Sciences continue to make incredible contributions to the community. Our students are involved in Shine-a-rama, Learn it Together, The United Way and Make-A-Wish to name but a few.

Our students have just released their 2010-11 FHS Dream Team Make-A-Wish video that will recruit more FHS students to this rewarding, and valuable program. We remain deeply indebted to our students for their stellar contributions to university community and the community at large

Nursing doctoral student earns Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship

 

Nursing graduate student Claudia Caxaj has been selected as a Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship winner - Canada's most prestigious scholarship for doctoral students. Caxaj's work focuses on the role of self-determination in promoting health among indigenous communities in the context of on-site mining. (Read more)
