First-Year Course Selections

All students in the School of Kinesiology are enrolled in a general first year before applying to a specific degree program/module prior to entering second year. The courses listed below are required in order to be considered for progress into specific programs/modules. It is recommended that all required courses be completed in first year, but there is flexibility for movement between programs/modules in upper years as long all progression and course requirements are met.

Bachelor of Arts (BA)

Kinesiology Honors Specialization or Major

  • Kinesiology 1080A/B - Introduction to the Psychomotor Behaviour
  • Kinesiology 1088A/B - Introduction to Sport Psychology
  • Physiology 1021 - Human Physiology
  • Three courses numbered 1000-1999 from other faculties/programs

Sport Management Honors Specialization

  • Kinesiology 1080A/B - Introduction to the Psychomotor Behaviour
  • Kinesiology 1088A/B - Introduction to Sport Psychology
  • Physiology 1021 - Human Physiology
  • Sociology 1020 or 1021E - Introduction to Sociology
  • Business 1220 - Introduction to Business
  • One full course equivalent from another faculty/program

Fitness and Exercise Prescription

  • Kinesiology 1080A/B - Introduction to the Psychomotor Behaviour

Note: Prior to graduation students must complete 3.0 senior 2200 and above science designated courses between years 2 to 4. Selected first-year courses affect which senior science courses students are eligible to select.
