Examination Information

The Examination Schedule

The official final exam schedule is posted on the Registrar's website. SHOWING UP AT THE WRONG TIME IS NOT GROUNDS FOR A SPECIAL EXAMINATION. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK THE SCHEDULE AND CONFIRM THE INFORMATION WITH MORE THAN ONE CLASSMATE.

Accomodation for Religious Holidays

If you are unable to write a scheduled examination on a Sabbath or Holy Day, you must provide written notice to the Academic Counselling Office as early as possible but no later than two weeks prior to the scheduled examination.  In the case of mid-term tests notification is to be given in writing to the Academic Counselling Office as early as possible but not later than one week prior to the scheduled test.

Examination Conflicts

If you have three final examinations falling within a 23 hour period, you may request a Special Examination.

  • Note: "3 within 23 hours" means three examination periods in sequence such as 7pm - 9am - 2pm or 2pm - 7pm - 9am. We expect you to prepare in advance to meet other schedules (such as 9am - 7pm - 9am) that you consider heavy. The schedule is posted early in the term to enable you to set up an effective study plan.
  • Procedures have been established to allow students with two examinations at the same time to write the same examination as their classmates. Both examinations may be written the same day with a supervised study and meal break. Contact the Registrar's Office for details.

Illness

If you are ill and cannot write an exam inform your professor immediately. You must also provide medical documentation to a Kinesiology Academic Counsellor

Documentation from Family Physicians/Nurse Practitioners and Walk-In Clinics

A UWO Student Medical Certificate (SMC) is required where a student is seeking academic accommodation. This documentation should be obtained at the time of the initial consultation with the physician/nurse practitioner or walk-in clinic. An SMC can be downloaded under the Medical Documentation heading of the following website: https://studentservices.uwo.ca/secure/index.cfm.

Documentation from Student Health Services

At the time of illness, students should make an appointment with a physician/nurse practitioner at Student Health Services. During this appointment, request a Student Medical Certificate from the Physician/Nurse Practitioner.

Documentation from Hospital Urgent Care Centres or Emergency Departments

Students should request that an SMC be filled out. Students may bring this form with them, or request alternative Emergency Department documentation. Documentation should be secured at the time of the initial visit to the Emergency Department. Where it is not possible for a student to have an SMC completed by the attending physician, the student must request documentation sufficient to demonstrate that his/her ability to meet his/her academic responsibilities was seriously affected.

Sleeping in, Misreading the Schedule, Flight Arrangements

Professors are not required to set a Special Examination for these reasons. If you are only half an hour late, you may be given permission to start the examination. Otherwise, contact the Department and the Academic Counselling Office immediately. You are expected to schedule vacations and flights that don't conflict with the examination schedule.  Do NOT book travel until after the exam schedule is finalized.
