Tom Jenkyn is helping Londoners to put their best foot forward. A researcher in the Faculty of Engineering and School of Kinesiology is looking at how the joints in our feet move when we walk.

Two Western Kinesiology students have been awarded the Franklin Henry Young Scientist Award . Kim Shapcott (supervisor Bert Carron) was awarded the Franklin Henry Young Scientist Award by the Canadian Society for Psychomotor Learning and Sport Psychology. Kim (who convocated this fall) was the second of Bert’s students to achieve this award as Heather Hausenblaus preceeded her. Congratulations Kim on the recognition of your excellent work while at Western.
Kris Neely (advisor Matt Heath) was also awarded the Franklin Henry Young Scientist Award (Motor Control) by the Canadian Society for Psychomotor Learning and Sport Psychology. For further information about this award click here.

5th Annual Community Exercise & Nutrition Symposium
Sat, March 20, 2010
This year’s symposium entitled Body Transformation – Dos & Don’ts will be held in the Labatt Health Sciences Building, Sat, March 20, 2010. It is designed for the non-specialist and will feature talks on various aspects of diet and exercise (both practical and more theoretical). New this year is a choice of 5 small groups sessions and, as in the past, there will be opportunities for audience-speaker discussion. Find out why some can gain muscle or lose fat quickly while others cannot and view/try some unique types of exercise training and/or observe examples laboratory fitness and body composition testing. Foundations for Career Development Certificate
The Schools of Health Studies and Kinesiology have developed a Foundations for Career Development Certificate in collaboration with The Career Centre @ Western.
