Occupational Science Course Descriptions

HS 9660a – Occupational Science:  Foundations, Perspectives and Research Issues/HS 9760b – Occupational Science: Philosophy and Advanced Theory

The purpose of this course is to provide students with a forum to critically examine the philosophical assumptions underpinning various perspectives drawn upon by occupational scientists, as well as the core assumptions underlying occupational science itself. Students will explore various ways of conceptualizing and enacting disciplines and interdisciplinarity, and consider their contribution to understanding the historical, contemporary and future shaping of occupational science. The course will combine lectures, seminars, and guest and students presentations, in order to better represent the wide range of the current body of knowledge in Occupational Science.
